Questo vuole essere un piccolo gesto di sostegno per Wikileaks e il suo “parafulmine” Assange. Se ci giriamo un attimo dall’altra parte li fanno fuori in malo modo. Già così ci stanno provando in tutti i modi. Dobbiamo mantenere alta l’attenzione e fare cerchio attorno all’iniziativa!
Questo link cercherò di tenerlo sempre puntato ai loro server attivi, aggiornandolo in caso di attacchi o altre cancellazioni di record DNS.

Grazie Wikileaks, siete dei grandi. Invito chiunque a mantenere sul proprio sito un simbolo di supporto, sottoforma di link. E poi a dare anche qualche soldino come ho fatto anche io.

I have made a script to create a VPN on top of SSH. There’s plenty of those probably, but mine has a few optional features that probably no else has:

• Changes routing and name servers.
• Suspends the dhcp client. You can even leave NetworkManager on.
• Tries to bypass http proxies, using connect-proxy.
• Supports blocking all other traffic, making the client invisible on the local network.
• Tor support: single hop (through tortunnel) or three hops (normal tor) indirection.

The prerequisites are:

1. having ssh connectivity to a machine from the internet (server)
2. having root credentials for that machine
3. enabling root logins and tunnels in sshd on the said machine
4. enabling ip forwarding and probably masquerading (NAT) on the server
5. having root powers on the local client to run this script
6. optionals: connect-proxy, tortunnel (torproxy) , tor

Micropost durante una serata di febbre visto che sto morendo di caldo e devo uscire dal letto qualche minuto. Alle volte Internet spara cavolate molto più della carta stampata, ma questa si rifà alla grande quando parla di Internet.
Ho notato più di una volta come sui giornali le notizie più deviate dalla realtà sono sempre sul web, sui blog o su facebook in particolare.

Ricordo un articolo de “La Stampa” su Beppe Grillo che veniva contestato pesantemente sulla sua contrarietà a pubblicare le dichiarazioni dei redditi on line. C’erano migliaia di commenti su quel post e circa il 10% erano palesemente di disaccordo da un’occhiata a campione. Sono centinaia i post di Grillo con migliaia di commenti e  la stampa non ha mai fatto articoli su altro, ma basta che venga contestato una mezza volta e via a sparare durissimo. Ora succede di nuovo sulla storia di Massimo Tartaglia. Sempre La Stampa dice “su Facebook nascono gruppi anche pro-aggressore”. Boh al momento il gruppo pro-aggressore più grosso ha 22.000 fan, quello contro 700. Non è neanche facile da trovare con la ricerca. Articolo La Stampa.

There’s blogging nowadays and everyone has to be writing stuff on the web all the time about what they have been doing. Sometimes even to the cost of not actually doing it properly.
Payments from a big site, advertising, visibility or pure ego satisfaction are the reasons behind the proliferation of not-very-good information.

I try not to blog about anything I am not an expert on, but many people seem to be desperate about writing a post and having it linked to newsfeeds aggregators, to the point that they don’t care if they are publishing, well, bullshit.
In the free sofware community, but probably everywhere, this new trend is somewhat harmful, because people browse the web looking to fix problems or to learn about and improve their open source OS and they need to find sound technical information. (more…)

An international effort to normalize patent legislation, particularly between EU and USA, is asking for public comments. Since this might be another way of spreading software patents around, the FSF has asked to send them our comments against this kind of patents.

It’s as easy as politely sending an email here: plharmonization (at) uspto.gov.
